The Brant County Federation of Agriculture is pleased to introduce you to our next County “Celebrity Chef”, Cheryle Hill. She and her husband Barry enjoy entertaining guests at their Hillsfield Farm home and nothing beats a good home cooked meal. Classic family recipes are updated by cutting back on the amount of fat, sugar and salt.
And now we invite you to “join us in the kitchen” as we sample a bowl of Cheryle’s delicious homemade onion soup made with a medley of Ontario grown vegetables. Can you smell it - the lingering scent of onions and garlic slowly sautéed to a golden brown? And just wait until you taste it! Cheryle shared her “secret ingredients” (fresh garlic, fresh ginger, cabbage and coffee) that makes her soup exceptionally good.
Hillsfield Farm is located just east of Ohsweken, in Tuscarora Township. Barry is well known as a farm leader in Brant County and Six Nations, as he was President of the Brant County Federation of Agriculture for 3 years, a director of IGPC and the founding President of the First Nations AgriGroup. In February 2010 he was elected as the President of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association.
